Travel is her passion and integral part of her job; Marta Giardini, an inquisitive and polyhedral architect and designer, injects a blast of freshness and eclectic contamination into each of her projects. Her life and work are based in Milan and she has spent prolonged periods abroad – in Spain for a line of table accessories and textile beds of Zara Home; in Peru, in Thailand and in China for a number of important brands. “Because” – according to Marta – “work is a passion that needs to be indulged.”
Quality partnerships immediately enhanced her professional pathway as a designer and fabric stylist – for example, she worked with Armani Casa to define the new tableware, decoration, lighting and gift collections, and with Paola Navone for the GervasoniBlu project. In 2002, she founded ENTRATALIBERA in Milan with Bruno Rainaldi, an incredibly special facility suspended between art and design; a ‘shape workshop’ that embraces research and experimentation, anticipating trends that are still in vogue today. She was art director of DMK, Sintesi and other brands of the group designing several collections for them. She designed pieces of furniture for Opinion Ciatti. In 2016, she was presented with the Menzione d’Onore (Highly commended) for the Compasso d’Oro for her Matita Perpetua (Perpetua ® the pencil). This was a prestigious accolade for the designer who created an environment-friendly pencil totally produced in Italy from dust and graphite, no wood or plastic casing. It is totally disposed of by writing; there is no waste and it does not dirty the hands, thanks to its exclusive production technology. Marta Giardini is currently the style director for Coincasa and a consultant for important companies including ArmaniCasa, Trussardi Home, Zucchi.
